Controversy Films producer Cheryl Eagan-Donovan signed a book option deal with author Mark Anderson for the right to develop his biography SHAKESPEARE BY ANOTHER NAME: The Life of Edward de Vere, Earl of Oxford, The Man Who Was Shakespeare for a new documentary feature, NOTHING IS TRUER THAN TRUTH.
NOTHING IS TRUER THAN TRUTH looks at the process of writing, where life experience, imitation of the masters, and relentless revision come together to create genius, as the key to discovering Edward de Vere as the true author of the works attributed to William Shakespeare. The film reveals De Vere’s epic life story and introduces a brilliant, troubled, charming man, using the author’s own words: the texts of the plays, De Vere’s letters and juvenelia, and the Sonnets.
The Independent Feature Project (IFP) New York sponsors the film. Founded in 1979, IFP helped bring indie doc hits like Mad Hot Ballroom to audiences around the world and fostered early work by leading filmmakers including Charles Burnett, Edward Burns, Jim Jarmusch, Barbara Kopple, Michael Moore, Mira Nair and Kevin Smith.
